Write for RLCE
RLCE began in the spring of 2020 as a European response to the pandemic from the people the lockdowns hit hardest and helped least: sex workers and the organisations that stand with them. The emergency is over, but the site kept going. Today we are an independent blog about health, society, culture and travel across Europe, with a standing interest in the adult industry and the people who work in it. If you have something worth saying about Europe as it actually is, this write for us page explains how to get it published.
What we publish
- Adult industry news: policy and legal changes affecting sex workers and adult businesses in the EU, the UK and Central Asia, platform and payment rules, and campaigns worth knowing about.
- Wellbeing and safety for workers: health services and access, screening, harm reduction, mental health, and the practical side of staying safe in a job the law rarely makes easy.
- Health and society: public health, housing, migration, labour rights and the way European cities treat the people at their margins.
- Dating and companionship: honest writing about modern relationships, companionship as a service, and how clients and companions should treat one another.
- Nightlife and culture: red-light districts, clubs, venues and the cultural history of Europe's night economy, written by people who actually go.
- Travel: city guides with a point of view, and the Europe that guidebooks leave out.
Guest posts and sponsored articles
We accept two kinds of contributed content. A guest post is an editorial piece we publish because it is useful or interesting to our readers; no money changes hands in either direction. A sponsored post is a paid placement for a business that wants to reach an adult European audience: agencies, directories, venues, adult-friendly payment and hosting providers, health services, legal and accounting practices that understand the industry, and similar. Sponsored articles are marked as such where disclosure is required, and they still have to be worth reading.
Our link policy, stated plainly: any link placed in the editorial body of a published piece is a permanent, indexed, dofollow link. We do not remove articles later, we do not swap links after publication, and we do not hide contributed pieces behind a paywall or a noindex tag. One or two relevant links per article is the norm. Pricing for sponsored placements is available on request: email us with the topic and the site you want to link to and we will reply with a quote. Typical turnaround from accepted draft to live page is three to five working days.
Guidelines
Our contributor guidelines are short, and we do apply them.
- Original work only. Nothing that has appeared elsewhere, including on your own site, and nothing spun, machine-padded or lightly rewritten from another article. We check.
- Length: 800 words or more. Shorter pieces rarely have enough substance for our readers.
- Adult industry topics are accepted, within limits. We publish about sex work, companionship, adult businesses and the policy around them. We do not publish explicit content, anything that describes or promotes illegal activity, anything that advertises an individual's services, or anything involving a person under 18. Gambling and pharmaceutical content is not accepted, sponsored or otherwise.
- European focus. Our readers are across the EU, the UK and Central Asia. If you are writing about law, be precise about which country you mean.
- Links: one or two relevant links to reputable sites. No link farms, no affiliate-only pages, no sites we would not send our own readers to.
- Author bio is optional. Two sentences at most. A pen name is fine, and we will never publish personal details you have not offered.
- We edit for house style. Every piece goes through our editor for clarity, tone and legal sense. If the changes are more than cosmetic we will tell you before publication.
- 18+. Parts of this site are written for adults. Contributors must be over 18, and content on adult topics must suit an adult audience without being explicit.
How to pitch
Send a short pitch, two or three sentences on the angle and why our readers need it, plus a link to something you have written before, to [email protected]. Use the subject line "Guest post: <topic>". A complete draft is welcome but not required. If you are asking about a sponsored post, say so in the first line and include the site you want to link to. We aim to reply within a few working days, and a no is a quick no.
